Bitter Harpy Cakes

So- because of the wedding cake I did last week, I've been asked for business cards. I thought I would just stick with the name of the blog address- bitter harpy cakes. The other day, when talking to a certain family member about it, she burst out something along the lines of "That's stupid! Who would buy a wedding cake from a bitter harpy?!"

Ok... personally, I like the name and I think it's different. But, I guess I can see where she's coming from. I am willing for other opinions to be heard- so will you please take the survey to the left and let me know what you think before I put business cards together?

Thanks!

bAHAHAHA - i HADN'T even thought of that until just now (sorry for the all caps - my button was on). It is a little odd sounding for someone who does cakes. Because cakes are supposed to be sweet, not bitter. You could do "Sugar Harpy Cakes" or "Sweet Harpy Cakes" or something like that. I honestly thought you were going with "Bakeshow's Cake Show" which I think is kind of awesome already.

I like Bakeshow's Cake Show, too! Also, you could just do Baker's Cakes. Not very clever though.

I echo the comments above. Speaking from a customer perspective, I don't think it sounds professional enough, although it may work for a website/blog/etc. It's all about first impressions, especially when they are expecting you to make their day special (a wedding day in my case) and I would rather you get all the business that you can, since there are many people who would be thrown off by name alone. Hope that helps!

I agree with Amy - I'd go with a play on the name Harpy Cakes without the bitter...

I LOVE the name for your blog. Thought it was so clever. But, I totally see the point of it being off-putting. Things could come to mind like, I don't want a bitter cake, or I don't want some bitter harpy lady making my cake, or what's a harpy? Is that some kind of fish? OK-now I'm just being silly. Ha ha! But you know what I mean..... hmmmmm.....what else could you put on there?
