The Birth of a Nerd and the Death of a Star

I can't remember the exact date, but it was sometime in the summer of 1982 (so I was  not yet five years old) I went to the movies. We were at the Mann Theater in Pocatello, Id and I was with my sister, Melanie and I think maybe my dad. The Movie was Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn and to be honest, the movie traumatized me. The part where they put the critters in their ears...? yeah. I had an irrational fear of earwigs after that. (still do)

That was the first movie I ever remember going to. In fact, that is probably one of my earliest memories, period. That's how long I have been a nerd. That's how long I have liked Star Trek and personally, Spock was always my favorite. I think it's the eyebrows. >:-)

Have you ever just sat and listened to Leonard Nimoy's voice? I love his voice! He's just so calming and peaceful.

Anyway, I was very sad to hear that he'd passed away, but my sister Valeri and I had a good laugh yesterday at the thought of Melanie being at the head of the line of heavenly fangirls welcoming Mr Nimoy home. I hope it happened that way.

Calvin understands my life

There is just no being lady-like when you have a cold. Usually when I sneeze my sneezes are small and dainty. Today? Yeah, not the case. I constantly keep looking at my tissues seeing if that was the one that made my brains fall out.

My poor coworkers. I have never used so much hand sanitizer in one day. And my trash bin is about to overflow. I'm hoping Housekeeping comes soon. I brought my own good tissues from home because the cheap ones feel like sandpaper after the first 400. Ouch.

Will I be My Valentine?

Even though I've never had a Valentine, I still love Valentine's Day. I don't know why. I think I have heard people in relationships complain about it more than single people. Maybe that's why I love it. I don't have to do anything out of obligation. I can do my own thing and be just fine.

So to celebrate tonight for my party of one I'm going to make spaghetti.

Because it's the most romantic food.

(and because no one will be offended by my garlic breath)

And usually I spend Valentine's Day with my boys Ben & Jerry, but this year I am ditching them for their much sexier French cousin.

Then for the entertainment I'll watch the ever so romantic love saga of Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

I have been watching a lot of Smallville lately so I kind of have superman on the brain and no matter how handsome the newcomers may be, there will never be another Christopher Reeve.

Happy Love Day, everyone.
