Burning Questions: Episode 5

Well. We made it! My birthday is...

After all this build up, am I doing anything exciting? Nope. I'm hanging out with the family and watching general conference. All my weekend birthdays are spent watching Gen Con. I'm sure there will be a good lunch in there somewhere.

On to the last of the questions...

41. Is it true that if you can't love yourself, you can't love another?

No. You can love lots of people and not love yourself. It's also very damaging to say until you love yourself, no one else can love you- because that just puts into your head that you're absolutely unloved and unlovable. be careful when you use those words!
42. What's the most positive thing you could say to yourself right now?

Uhhh... I have a good credit score. Yeah. That's about it.

43. What time of the day feels the most magical to you?

The moment I clock out from work, shut down my computer and close the door to my office. It's the mental equivalent of taking your bra off as you walk through the door. Ahhhh....

44. Were you a cute baby?

Ummm... yeah! Baker babies are adoooooorable!

45. Is there something you wish you had said sorry for, but never did?

The last thing I said to my dad was snotty. And I get to live with that for the rest of my life. So... yeah.

46. What is any creative talent you wish you had?

I wish I had the decorating talent of my sister. Everything she touches is beautiful. Everything I touch looks like it was put together by a drunk third grader.

47. Do you think you'd make a good teacher? Why or why not?

Yes. I think I am a natural teacher. I am especially good when I am confident in my topic. Would I make a good math teacher? probably not so much. Want me to teach you the history of Ellis Island? You've got it!

48. Do you think it's possible to fix a "broken" relationship?

I honestly don't know. I guess it depends on the cause of the break. I have enough trouble trusting in the first place- you break my trust? I don't know if we can come back from that.

49. If you chose to get a tattoo what would it be and where would you want it?

I once saw a tattoo of the Cheshire Cat that was invisible except under black light. That would be cool- OR if the black light thing works, maybe I'd get something from the Haunted Mansion.

50. When was the last time you stayed up past midnight and what were you up to?

I am up that late quite often these days... reading, you know. I did not read ONE BOOK while on pandemic vacation- I'm already on my sixth book since going back to work.

Thank you for sticking with me this week. It's been kind of fun answering some of these questions- and even MORE fun fiding gifs to go with them. haha!

Burning Questions: Episode 4

Uh oh! we're winding down the week of... what was it we were talking about...?

Oh yeah,

 31. What is the 10th picture in your phone gallery?

Me, showing off my 10 year anniversary work button- and rocking red lips! I really should wear them more often.

32. Would you ever dye your hair an unnatural color?

I have always wanted peacock colors- but my job requires that we have professional, natural looking hair. So maybe when I retire I'll rock the blue and green hair!

33. What job would you be terrible at and what job would you be good at?

I would not be a good professional dancer. I have very little rhythm and no coordination to speak of.

I would be a really good tour guide. I LOVE showing people around and telling them all the useless trivia I have floating around in my head. That's the dream... that's the dream.

34. Do you think forgiveness is mandatory to move on from something?

I guess so. But does forgiveness include saying the words, "I forgive you" or can you just forget about it and move on? because there are certain things I will not say I forgive- but life has continued just the same. But that doesn't mean I dwell on it and have let it fester. To the girl from Jr High who reached out to apologize to me me for being a bully. I'm glad you finally feel sorry for your actions- but they did not affect me enough that I have even thought about them once in the last thirty years. You're not that special. Move on.

35. What did you think was cool when you were younger?

I thought kids who were trendy were so neat! I was always two seasons behind in fashion- as soon as it was on sale at the clearance rack, that's when I would get it- by then, the next trend was in. I've always been out of sync with the cool kids. That's ok. I have grown to appreciate my uniqueness.

36. Is there a place that makes you sad to return to?

Disneyland is the happiest place on earth- and my happy place- but I also cry when I go there because that is when I miss Melanie the most.

37. What's the best advice anyone has ever given you?

Melanie always used to say to "Put on your big girl panties and deal with it." I always hated that saying because I hate the word "panties" (you know, how some people hate the word "moist" whatever...) but it really is good advice. Take a deep breath and deal with what life has handed you.

38. Have you ever treated someone badly just because someone else treated you badly?

Huh. I don't think so. If I have, I'm very, very sorry.

39. What's your favorite lyric from your favorite song right now?

This will always be my favorite Broadway song...
FIONA:
Many a lassie as ev'ryone knows'll
Try to be married before twenty-five.
So she'll agree to most any proposal.
All he mus' be is a man, an' alive.
I hold a dream an' there's no compromisin'
I know there's one certain laddie for me.
One day he'll come walkin' o'er the horizon:
But should he not, then an old maid I'll be.
Foolish, ye may say.
Foolish I will stay.
Waitin' for my dearie, an' happy am I
to hold my heart till he comes strollin' by.
When he comes, my dearie, one look an' I'll know
That he's the dearie I've been wantin' so.
Though I'll live forty lives till the day he arrives,
I'll not ever, ever grieve.
For my hopes will be high that he'll come strollin' by;
For ye see, I believe
That there's a laddie weary, and wanderin' free,
Who's waitin' for his dearie:
Me!
1ST GIRL:
What do ye do while ye're waitin' around
For your lad to come your way?
FIONA:
Well, when no one is lookin', ye kneel on the ground,
An' ye pray an' pray an' pray!
2ND GIRL:
But when lassies sit an' have no men,
Oh, how long becomes the night.
FIONA:
But I fear the night is longer when the lad's no' right.
Waitin' for my dearie is sweeter to me
Than wooin' any laddie on the lea.
GIRLS:
Dreamin' of your dearie, an' idlin' the day
FIONA:
That's how I am an' how I'll ever stay.
Though I'll live forty lives till the day he arrives,
I'll not ever, ever grieve.
For my hopes will be high that he'll come strollin' by;
For ye see, I believe
FIONA AND GIRLS:
That there's a laddie weary, an' wanderin' free,
who's waitin' for his dearie:
FIONA:
Me!

40. What was the last thing that completely took your breath away?

I would have to say my niece, Sadie. At my sister's wedding Sadie was all dolled up and she looked absolutely GORGEOUS!

One more day of this pre-birthday nonsense and then I'll set you free like the wild animals you are!
